All interviews are a part of an official investigative process and are scheduled through law enforcement or a DFPS Investigator. If you suspect your child is being abused, please call the Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400 and your local law enforcement agency.
Only the child and the Forensic Interviewer are able to be in the room during the interview.
It is important to let your child know they are going to a safe place to talk about what happened. The most important thing your child should know is, to tell the truth.
When you arrive, please ring our front doorbell to let our receptionist know that you’re here for an appointment. They will then buzz you into the building and start the check-in process.
You will then be greeted by a staff member who will escort you to a private family room where you will stay for the duration of the appointment. Your child will meet the Forensic Interviewer who will then interview in a separate room.
While your child is being interviewed, the Family Advocate or victim services personnel will meet with you and be available for you in the family room to provide you with information, answer your questions, and offer support throughout the duration of your appointment. Once your child’s interview is completed, you will meet with the investigators on your case, and they will provide you with any additional information.
WCCAC does not release recordings of the interviews to non-investigative parties.
WCCAC is a neutral third party organization that facilitates the investigation process. A forensic interview is conducted by our trained forensic interviewers. The interviewer interviews at a level consistent with the child’s age and developmental ability.
