Why Volunteer With Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center?

Volunteers are an essential part of the WCCAC team. Every day, community members help us create welcoming spaces, prepare resources for families, support fundraising events, raise awareness about child abuse prevention, and strengthen our ability to serve children throughout Williamson County.

Whether you’re looking to volunteer as an individual, with your family, through your faith community, or alongside coworkers and friends, we would love to help you find an opportunity that’s meaningful to you. We are incredibly grateful for the community partners, businesses, organizations, and volunteers who make our work possible, and we believe everyone has something valuable to contribute. Explore the opportunities below to find the volunteer role that’s right for you.

Some of the Ways You Can Help Out at WCCAC:

Please Note: Due to the nature of our work, volunteer opportunities may require different levels of onboarding, training, screening, or background checks. Requirements vary based on the role and volunteer setting, and many opportunities require minimal onboarding. Our team is happy to help you find a volunteer opportunity that’s a great fit for your interests, availability, and desired level of involvement.

Center Support volunteers play an important role in helping our Center operate smoothly and efficiently. These volunteers assist with a variety of behind-the-scenes and front-desk tasks during regular business hours, including welcoming and checking in clients, answering phones, organizing supplies, maintaining our Family Resource Room, preparing materials for programs and events, supporting marketing and development efforts, and helping with special projects as needed. Whether creating a positive first impression for families or assisting with day-to-day operations, Center Support volunteers make a meaningful impact on our mission and the services we provide.

Because these volunteers work on-site and may have access to confidential information and family spaces, they complete our most comprehensive volunteer onboarding process, which includes training, screening, and background checks to ensure the safety and privacy of the children and families we serve.

Looking for a meaningful way to serve alongside your coworkers, faith community, club, team, or organization? Group volunteer opportunities allow participants to work together on projects that directly support the children and families we serve. Depending on the Center’s current needs, projects may include preparing event materials, assembling coping bags, organizing donations, beautification projects, and other hands-on activities that help advance our mission.

We are happy to host groups at our Center during or outside of normal business hours and, when possible, can provide materials for volunteer projects at your location. Our team works closely with each group to create an experience that is both impactful and manageable. Whenever possible, we also enjoy sharing more about our mission and the impact of your service, helping build a more informed and protective community for children.

Several times throughout the year, we host Weekend Warrior volunteer opportunities that allow community members to support our mission through hands-on service projects at the Center. These projects vary based on our current needs and may include assembling supplies, organizing donations, preparing materials for programs and events, beautification projects, and other activities that help us better serve children and families.

Weekend Warriors are a great option for individuals, families, and volunteers of all ages who want to make a difference but may not be available during regular business hours. Whether you’re looking for a one-time volunteer opportunity or a way to introduce your family to community service, Weekend Warriors provide a fun and meaningful way to get involved.

Our fundraising events rely on dedicated volunteers who help bring each event to life. Opportunities are available both in the weeks leading up to an event and on event day, with tasks ranging from preparing materials and organizing supplies to assisting with registration, guest hospitality, setup, activities, and event operations. Whether you prefer behind-the-scenes projects or fast-paced event environments, there are opportunities to match a variety of interests, skills, and schedules.

Fundraising events are also a great way to volunteer with coworkers, friends, or family members. Connect with our team to learn about upcoming opportunities and find an event role that’s right for you.

Community Ambassadors help raise awareness about our mission and the importance of child abuse prevention throughout Williamson County. These volunteers represent our organization at community events, outreach opportunities, and educational activities, helping share information about the services we provide and the impact of our work. Whether assisting with a resource fair, supporting a community event, or helping staff connect with local families and partners, Community Ambassadors serve as advocates for children and a voice for our mission in the community.

Community Ambassadors are typically paired with staff members as they learn about our programs, services, and key messaging, ensuring they feel confident representing the Center in the community.

Hosting a donation drive is a meaningful way to support the children and families we serve while engaging your school, workplace, faith community, club, or neighborhood. Throughout the year, the Center relies on donated items to help meet the needs of families and keep our programs running smoothly. Common needs include individually wrapped snacks, toiletries, and other family support items.

Donation drives are a great option for younger supporters and groups that may not be able to volunteer on-site but still want to make a tangible impact. To learn about our most current needs and coordinate a drive, please contact wccacinfo@wilcocactx.org.

Maintenance volunteers help keep our Center safe, welcoming, and well cared for. From minor repairs and facility projects to landscaping and beautification efforts, these volunteers play an important role in maintaining the spaces where children and families receive services. Whether improving our grounds or helping with upkeep around the building, Maintenance volunteers help ensure our Center remains a comfortable and inviting place for those we serve.

Frequently Asked Questions

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

Most ongoing volunteer opportunities require volunteers to be at least 18 years old due to the nature of our work and the confidentiality requirements of our facility. However, there are still many ways for younger supporters to get involved. Families and volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate in select opportunities such as Weekend Warriors, and students, schools, youth groups, and community organizations can make a meaningful impact by hosting donation drives to support the children and families we serve.

Will I work directly with children and families?

Most volunteer opportunities support our mission behind the scenes through administrative projects, facility support, community outreach, event assistance, and other operational needs. While some volunteers may help welcome visitors or assist with front desk activities, volunteers do not provide direct services to children or families. This helps protect client confidentiality and ensures families receive support from trained professionals.

Do I need a background check?

Some volunteer opportunities require background checks, training, and additional onboarding, while others require minimal screening. Requirements vary depending on the role and level of interaction with client spaces and information. Our team will guide you through any requirements associated with your volunteer opportunity.

Why do some volunteer opportunities require additional screening and training?

The safety, privacy, and well-being of the children and families we serve are our highest priorities. Because volunteers may be present in spaces where confidential information is discussed or stored, some roles require additional onboarding, training, and screening. These requirements help us maintain a safe and supportive environment for everyone who visits our Center.

Can I volunteer with my family, church group, business, or organization?

Absolutely! We welcome group volunteers and can often create meaningful service opportunities for businesses, faith communities, clubs, schools, and other organizations. We can host groups at our facility or, in some cases, provide projects that can be completed at your location.

Is there a minimum time commitment?

Time commitments vary by role. Some volunteers participate in one-time projects or events, while others choose to volunteer regularly throughout the year. We’ll work with you to find an opportunity that fits your schedule and availability.

Can I volunteer outside of normal business hours?

Yes. While some volunteer opportunities take place during business hours, others—including fundraising events, group projects, maintenance opportunities, and Weekend Warriors—may be available in the evenings or on weekends.

What kinds of volunteer opportunities are available?

Volunteer opportunities range from administrative and facility support to community outreach, fundraising events, group service projects, and seasonal opportunities. Whether you’re looking for a one-time project or an ongoing commitment, we’d love to help you find a role that matches your interests and availability.
