YOU WON’T KNOW WHO I AM OR HEAR MY STORY, BUT I AM ONE OF THE 4,746 KIDS WHO SUFFERED AT THE HANDS OF ABUSE IN WILLIAMSON COUNTY LAST YEAR.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER STOOD BY MY SIDE –
FIGHTING FOR ME AND RESTORING HOPE.
DATE TBA, WCCAC will be at Wolf Ranch Town Center to read out loud each and every name and age of a child reported as abused last year in Williamson County. However, as you know, in order to protect the children’s identities and the integrity of their cases, we can’t reveal their real names. So, here is the twist: we will, instead, substitute “Jane Doe” or “John Doe” for all 4,746 boys and girls, reminding our community that there are real children and stories behind each name and that WCCAC stands up and fights for those children.
Save Jane, as its name implies, urges individuals and groups to stand up and fight for the children right alongside us. We are asking the community – and those who represent the community – to join us in reading these names.
Save Jane first launched last year with Dallas County Children’s Advocacy Center, with the goal of spreading awareness about the crisis of child abuse. We are participating this year to raise awareness both about this critical issue in Williamson County and about Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center’s expert response to the issue, in cooperation with our MultiDisciplinary Team of law enforcement, DFPS, and prosecution. We also hope this event will encourage our community to join in our work.
